What type of coffee drinker are you?
This question is of course equally important and in many cases even crucial for your choice of the best coffee maker.
If you like espresso, the choice is simple but what about Lattes or Cappucinos? Both have espresso shots as their base, so you would need a machine that can produce espressos. Besides the obvious choice there are also some single serve machines that are able to brew good quality espressso shots. You can also use one of the smaller stove top coffee makers. Even though they produce moka and not espresso, they still brew a high quality coffee that you can use for your Cappuccinos or Lattes. Millions of Italians can’t be wrong about this.
If your preferred drink is the Americano or a simple full cup of coffee you should of course look at the drip coffee makers and single serves. In recent years the drip coffee machine has gotten a bit of bad reputaiton, but we don’t like coffee snobs either and there are certainly a few great machines out there that make great tasting coffee not matter what the media is trying to tell you. Plus we believe that taste is something very individual and shall not be challenged. Everyone has to decide for themself what they like or not and even though we love our espressos, we do enjoy a cup out of the traditional coffee makers as well. Especially if it comes from a good machine with the necessary quality standards.
The french Press and the stove top coffee makers are the best of both worlds. You can make a larger amount of coffee plus the ability to influnce the taste a little more (Water temperature, brewing time etc.).
